Pooping in the Moist Hide

I have two hatchlings that seem to like pooping in the moist hide. Anyone have a way to get them to take their business outside the moist hide?

Move the poop out manually and maybe they will follow along?
Move them back to paper towel moist hides?
Add more dry hides in the tub?

If anyone has had success in this area please let me know...

I would take the moist hide out for a week or so, and let them find a new spot. If they become stressed you might have to put it back though.

I had one do that and I just kept cleaning it out and he finally picked another spot. I think part of it might be because they feel safer in the hide than comming out to poo and as they get more comfortable with there surroundings they find a better spot.But thats just my opinion.

Have you ever tried putting the moist hide in a different place? One time my leopard gecko pooped in her water bowl. I just moved the water bowl out of the way and it pooped where the water bowl use to be.

Yeah I would try moving the moist hide to a different location. Tricking them always works for me hehe!

Thought I would update this thread...

First I tried taking the poop out of the moss moist hide and placing it at the back of the tub hoping that the geckos would simply get the hint and start pooping at the back of the tub. No good...they still like the moist hide.

Next I removed the moist hide and replaced it with a dry hide for a few days. They both refused to poop in the dry hide and pooped at the back of the tub. Now I've put the mosit hide back with paper towel instead of the moss. We'll see if they're getting the idea.

I don't have room to move the hides around as it's a 5 quart hatchling tub and there's not a lot of room in the tub. I use a toilet paper roll as a dry hide.

If this doesn't work I'll try a larger tub with a large moist hide and a large dry hide....
