poor Comet...

Last September I sold a young boy a patternless female he named Comet. She was having severe shed problems, but apparently he did not provide her with a humid hide as recommended by myself and the vet. This is the absolute worst case of stuck shed and face rub I have ever seen. It makes me heartsick to think of my beautiful baby like this. I am in tears...

That is horrible. Things like that make me wonder why some people even care to buy animals. Marcia, if you have her, I hope you can help her. It makes me sick to see what an uncareing owner to do to their animals. Good Luck!

OMG Marcia! That is so awful! I can't imagine how you feel right now. :( You put your trust in your customers, and it's horrible to see that your baby wasn't taken care of properly.... I am so sorry. What's happening with it?

OMG, Marcia I do hope that your poor baby can recover. I cannot believe that people can be so heartless. Comet is lucky that there are people like you out there. Best wishes to you and her. It may sound silly to do so for a gecko but I lit a candle for Comet and said a little prayer for her and you.

I don't have Comet... this is a photo they sent asking if they should take her to the vet! (???????)

They had her in to the vet last month for stuck shed around her eye, and it got removed and NeoPolydex was prescribed. I told them, and the vet told them, she needs a humid hide or manual help removing stuck shed from her face and eye area. They didn't listen. They added one of of those rough rock hides that you can take the lid off of, but only put damp paper towels in it once. I told them to remove ANYTHING in her tank that she could rub against, but they didn't listen!

I insisted on them taking Comet to the vet themselves, or bringing her back to me. So they have an appointment on Monday morning at 7:00 AM. The vet told me that if they were not willing to do what it takes to keep this gecko healthy, they should just leave her there and then he'll let me know. I'll just go and pick her up.

When we sell our geckos to other people, we are never really sure of how they will be cared for. I can understand making mistakes when we don't know any better, but this is different... and a pretty little gecko girl is suffering now. There is no excuse for simply ignoring the advise of the vet and the breeder.

I am still heartsick over this, but I am getting madder and madder about it.

That is absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!! how can somebody not know to take something that looks like that to the vet? Not to mention completely avoid any and all advice from you and the vet! Some people are just plain ignorant!

OMG! Poor Comet! I hope the person has already taken out all the rough surfaced stuff before Comet sees the vet on Monday, so the face won't get worse...this is very heartbreaking!!

Thanks to Connie and Jacy for offering to help me! Here is the emai I just sent them:

It breaks my heart. I dropper-fed her, and she was hungry. I sent them home with one of my lay-box humid hides and a bunch of slurry and a dropper since she wont eat with such a sore mouth. I didn't know what else to do... I can't force anyone to give me back a gecko they paid for. I wanted to keep her here with me, but we made a vet appointment and they said they would do whatever is necessary to help her. She will surely lose her right eye. My vet will call me or email me after their appointment on Monday with his recommendations... I hope he can talk them in to giving her up so I can just go get her and bring her back home.

My poor, poor pretty baby.

I'm very sorry Marcia. I really do hope they leave her at the vet's office, so you can take her home. It must of been very hard for you to let them leave with her. I hope Comet pulls through.

Poor little girl!

What i dont get is why would someone pay money for a gecko, and not take care of it, Especially take it to a vet for expert advice and pay for the vet bill and then do nothing the vet recommended for treatment!

I hope you get her back Marcia!
And hope those people never own another gecko!!!

Seeing one of my beautiful geckos like that is traumatizing me. I can't seem to stop crying and obsessing over it.

Just like Bret said, Why would someone buy a gecko or any animal and not take care of it ? I really hope do hope you feel better Marcia. And hopefully on monday you'll be able to pick Comet up.
