Here is another question. could I buy the type of thermometer that I have for my wall of my tank and just lay it on the floor of the tank to read the temp that way?

Whenever I feed meal worms, they come out the other end almost completely intact.

The only time i've ever seen mealworms intact is when my leo has regurgitated. I'd say there's some sort of digestion issue here.

Blark, you can get a digital thermometer with a lead you can tape to the bottom of your tank for around $10 at any big box pet store. I wouldn't trust the one like you linked. There's no way of verifying what you're reading because you don't have a specific point of contact from the thermometer. However, the digital ones have a lead so you know exactly where your reading is coming from.

anyone have a link to the type of thermo your talking about. a lead? I looked up digital thermoes but they look like you stab them into a turkey. Not measure the temp of a flat "hard" surface.

The only thing I can think of i placing the "probe" tip on the surface of the floor is that what you guys are talking about? I don't want to go out and buy the wrong thing. There are TUNS of types of probe thermometers..

Something more like "this"?

Worms ew..

This is just a thought then again I don't know much but.. how big is the gecko that spit up the worm? and how big is the worm to the gecko's head. don't you have to feed them food that is.. like at least smaller then their heads or something? Maybe the worm was to big for your gecko right now.

I got my digital thermometer with a probe at walmart for 11.88. I have it stuck on the warm side over the heat pad ( UTH).

This is the type of thermometer i'm talking about. http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752177

When I say "a lead" I mean a wire with a probe attached to the end.

I was saying to the person who said it looks like the worms come out in their poop that they look intact that I haven't seen that before. I've only seen intact worms from regurgitation. THey must have some issue, maybe a temp issue, causing the worms to be pooped intact. Or their leo is regurgitating. The only time mine ever regurgitated was after a 3 week hunger strike and she wasn't quite ready for the superworm I gave her.

Got one. And it helps alot more. You see in my room I have one window.. one door and the tank. So the way I adjust things is difficult. I can't not close the window because then the air gets stale and smells like calcium powder. So I have to figure a way to adjust my heat and window so that there is an equal balance in tempature. Then the heating pad can do the rest. Today I had my window open and my info-red heat lamp on.. when I got back and did the test on the floor of my tank.. it was in the 100's.. BAD for a gecko. Mind you she had a hide she could crawl in so I tested the temps in there and it was around the 93? ish..

Anyways I turned off the info-red light and I'm going to try and find the happy midium in the room temp to keep the floor at 90. and not the hide..

Thank you all for your suggestions I'm glad I found the problem!

Now the problem is this. My info-red light is to much for the tank. It makes it to hot. And the school apparently controls the heat for me. I can't turn it up or down so they blast it at night.. and turn it to a level during the day. Really aggravating. So, how do I deal with this problem?

DOn't know he's grown half and inch in the month. Seems to do well on crickets, mealworms seem to be hard for him to digest.

It sounds like a thermostat is what you need to plug your uth into and keep your temps stable. It will turn the heat on and off to keep the temps just right, regardless of what the temps in your room are.

I figured out a way to do it all so it all works out really. I left the probe in and watched it throughout the day its at a constant 90-91 on the floor and 80 in the air. My gecko goes into her cave and lays on the half that I have the moist moss on to get cooler. So, things are happy.

Sounds like you have figured it out. Leopard geckos do not need overhead heat, but belly heat. Undigested food can mean anything from temp problems, to some pretty serious illnesses, not something to let go!
