Problem With Humidity

Hi,

I am setting up a tank in anticipation of a gecko, which should be coming Tuesday and seem to be having quite the problem with humidity. Because of summer and because of my location and possibly other reasons the humidity in the tank reads anywhere from 50-70% and I know that is too high.

Here is the rundown of my tank:
-Paper Towel Substrate
-10 Gallon Terrarium
-I DO NOT mist the tank
-Water Bowl is on the opposite side of the heat pad
-My Humidity Gauge is the Exo Terra Dial one

Is there anyway I can lower the humidity or should I just keep an eye on the gecko and just make sure it doesn't have the signs of a respiratory disease?

Please Help. :main_huh:

I don't know how accurate those little dial humidity gauges are. We live in one of the most humid areas in the US and have never had any respiratory issues with our Leos.

I would get another gauge. I had one of those and it was reading between 50 and 60 almost all the time. Put in an electronic one and it was reading 15 to 20 % lower.
