My homemade incubator

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I need some help!.This is a pic of my mini fridge.the dimensions of the inside are 17" deep X 16" wide X 29" high.I have a newark fan up top with 30 cfm rating and 30" of 11 " heat tape on the bottom. My herpstat is set to 80 and for the life of me i cant keep the temps under 83.The temps fluctuate from 83.3 to 86 degrees. My herpstat is on the LO2 setting and my ambient temp in the room is 70.The heat tape never comes on because the temps never go below 80.Even when the heat tape is not on it seems the temps rise.I can t figure how the temps can rise when the heat tape is not running.Any suggestions??

How often is the fan coming on? Motors generate heat and even small amounts trapped inside the incubator will cause the temp to rise.

axial fans dont run well when u run it through my herpstat thatswhy u run it direct into an outlet.the fan is continuous.I found out that my fan is 14 watts which generates some heat.I was told the wattage on the fans have to be below 8 watts so Im going to try that

I have a 10W DC fan that I have hooked up and it works great. It is twice the size of the fan you are using and doesn't produce that much heat at all. It's at Radio Shack for $20. Now that you have taken pics then I would definitely put about 12 bottles of water in their to help stabilize the temps. Your fan could very well be what's causing the temps to rise past what you want especially if your heat tape never comes on. If your heat tape does come on every once and a while then it could be you have too much in there.
