Ok ok... I'm purely going by looks on that one... trying to lighten the topic... wouldn't a giant RADAR look sweet though?

I was offered some of those "new blood albinos" I declined as should everyone . I know about the genetic messes, and in my last post I wasn't being 100% serious, more or less a mental diarrhea moment... I agree 100% on keeping strains seperate. she is the only "possible het bell" I had at the time... and like previously stated... chances were pretty slim as her father was only a "possible het" and mother a normal. (so we think)

I now have 3 bell females.. red stripe bell, Lav/Tang bell het Radar, and a bell hybino.
NO Bell Male.... YET.
I will not be breeding these to ANY of my 9 Tremper males..

I have never crossed strains before, (as I have only ever had trempers till this year.)The reason I chose to breed to her also, was she is a REALLY spotty, and dark normal... I like normals. I like spotty ones... what better than BIG spotty ones??? I really did not expect to get an albino from her... I double and tripple checked the deli cup on this one too, as I only put one clutch per cup, and label them right away before taking out other eggs. I also only open one cup at a time when checking them so lids don't get switched.... it was also hatched out of her LAST clutch... which really threw a wrench in things...

Problem is that you don't know which albino strain you have now. You would have to test breed all those babies. What to do with the ones you know are double het albino? Its tough. It would have been better to breed out the Tremper from a super giant normal het Tremper first. Then cross to a radar and breed the offspring. I'd start over if I were you.

The hatchling you posted, the eyes scream enigma to me..?

The eyes never stayed like that... they were only like that for a week or so... I'm going to take pics of him now. and the sibling..

Thor.. I wasn't trying to make giant radars, I'm just saying imagine one..

this albino was UNEXPECTED. it was a normal het tremper (possible giant) to a normal slight possibility het bell

I'm going to start a new thread...give me a bit... taking some updated pics.

*** figures, batteries are dead... charging for a bit then i'll post sorry...lol****
cheers.

So I count nine (give or take one) people who have replied and only THREE of them have been about my original topic.

All I am asking for is a number. Maybe I should just start a poll so there will be less of a chance of albino debate.

Whatever you breed to will be tied up for the entire season with an unknown. More possible unknowns will be created causing more questions within your colony. A positive would be a gecko you know beyond doubt which albino strain is involved.

This is why it's all such a genetic nightmare and should be avoided!

Hank, I would say no less than 20(changed my mind from 10), and the more the better. However, there are Giants/Super Giants out there that are not "supposed" to be het for anything. You may want to just do your breeding trial with one of those, which would save you an initial season of maybes.

I would not breed a possible het Tremper with any thing other than a visual Tremper until I did this trial to prove he is not het Tremper

And kkigs that would be ideal but most giants I see around here are Tremper or het. Tremper haha.
