Proving out a 66% het for eclipse

I have a Reverse stripe male that is 66% het for eclipse and I would like to prove out whether he actually is het for eclipse. I have a female Raptor with 1 solid red eye, and the other is half red, would I be able to prove him out using her?
I've tried to do my own research prior to asking, but I'm still not completely sure if the red eye and black eye versions are the same eclipse gene?

That pairing will work to prove him out. A RAPTOR is the same Eclipse gene with the addition of the Tremper albino gene.

So either way if I get full or partial red eyes or black eyes it will prove that he is het for eclipse?

Raptor and eclipse are recessive genes correct?

So if I were to breed her (the raptor) to a gecko that is not het for raptor or eclipse I will not get eclipses or raptors? (I'm just making sure Im getting a grasp on understanding some basic genetics...still learning;))

I also have a male mack snow that is possible het for Raptor, so in order to prove him out (next season of course...b/c I know that I cant breed the same female to 2 different males in the same season...I read THAT thread:p)

So anyway... If I were to breed my Mack snow poss. het Raptor male to my raptor female, and got any raptors that would make him a definite het. for Raptor... Correct?

And if I kept some of those babies and bred them together, would that make mack snow raptors? :main_huh:

The eclipse gene just changes the pupil shape, not the color. It's the albino gene that makes it red in raptors. a RAPTOR is a combination of two basic recessive genes: tremper albino and eclipse. If an animal is bred to a raptor and it produces babies with eclipse eyes(red OR black) then the animal is het eclipse.

If a raptor is bred to an animal that is not het for eclipse, the offspring will not have eclipse eyes, but will be 100% het for eclipse(gene carriers).

If you breed a mack snow het raptor to a raptor you will get raptors, het raptors, mack raptors, and mack snows het raptor. If the babies are not raptors, they will be 100% het raptor, so if you bred the snow babies to their siblings or to each other you could in fact get mack raptors, yes.

Oh wait Ted...I just re-read one part, my Mack Snow is only a POSSIBLE het for Raptor, so if I breed him to a raptor to prove his possible het., and get NO raptor babies, that means he's probably NOT het raptor....Right?

That is correct.

It took me a good 1.5-2 years to fully grasp genetics. Now I've got them pretty well.It just takes time.If you ever have any genetic questions, feel free to pm me them. You also might consider gett Ron trempers book,"The Herpeteoculture of leopard gecko".It's a pretty expensive book, but goes over pretty much everything about leopard geckos.I got it last year for Xmas, and still use it to reference from time to time.just keep practicing.being exposed to this community will help you greatly.Good luck!

Thanks again to everyone who helped me :)
