So I got 2 geckos for my bday about 2 weeks ago. They are my first reptile pets, and so far Im very excited and happy to have them. I spent an hour every day just watching them
I have a white lined, and golden gecko sharing a 20 gal tank. (I know maybe too crammed) but im currently tight on budget and cant afford another tank yet, but so far they havnt clashed at all really.
Im still unsure about their hunting though, they eat when they can, but I always put about 4 crickets in when they feed so they can split them evenly (hopefully) but every day I pick up one of the logs in their tank and theres like 3 crickets hiding underneath it, in a spot where theres no way the geckos will see them or be able to reach them. So I blocked it off with rocks, but they still manage to find spots to hide from the geckos.
I really dont have any experience at all with geckos, but are they good enough hunters that they know that the crickets are there and do the crickets tend to come out when Im not around?
I put a piece of lettuce in an opening in the tank hoping the crickets will move to there to eat and be in sight of the geckos.
Any help appreciated.
