Hello From New Hampshire, So I have a question. I don't have any intentions on breeding right now But I do have a few questions that I haven't been able to answer by reading up on my own.
Question #1. So if I was to buy a M and F around the same age ( talking like weeks or A month apart) AFTER quarantine Can I put the Male and Female in the same enclosure together? I would like them to Grow up together so there is Less chance of a bad introduction?( I don't know it makes since to me:p ) (side note I only plan on breeding what ever I get to the ONE male Less confusion IMHO)
Question #2. Is sexual maturity based on Weight OR AGE ( I know there is Target weights for the Females Due to the stress and lack of eating and need for calcium for egg production)

Question #3. do you need any type of Licence to sell geckos ( I am sure this varys from state to state but mabey someone here lives in New Hampshire and might know.)

and I am sure that I am forgetting to add that one last question but I cant seem to think of it I am sure it will come to me at like 3 in the morning or something like that.

Thanks in advance all and have a great day =-)

i will try to answer your questions as best i can in order :)

1-it is never a good idea to put a male and a female together if they are under the breeding age/weight. a male sexually matures much faster then females, and he will attempt to breed with heer even if she isnt ready. that can cause injuries such as tail loss and fights. not to mention it can stress out your female to the point of making her not eat which is never good. plus, when a female is with a male it can sometimes stimulate them to ovulate at a young age or small weight (sometimes 30 grams!) so if the male breeds with her then, she could become gravid, and face serious egg complications, weight loss, and possible death from being to small to handle eggs. i reccomend keeping them seperate until they are both old enough, big enough, healthy, and YOU are prepared for eggs and hatchlings.

2- sexual maturity is based on both age and weight.
for females, most good breeders wait until they are 55+ grams (to make sure they have enough weight to support them through egg production, as a lot of females quit eating during breeding) and 12 months old (to make sure that they are fully develpoed internally) before they are bred.
for males the minimum weight is 45 grams, but most responsible people wait until 50+ and 9 months old or more, because the older and bigger the male, the less the chance of a prolapse occurring.

3- for your third question.. i know that you dont need a licence in nevada, but i have no clue about new hampshire.. try googling your states exotic animal laws, and it might say something about it in there...

i hope this helps you out though! :D

that is a very good plan :) you see too many people who buy geckos, breed them two months later, and end up with sick geckos, dead, hatchlings, or eggs and no incubator... and in the future, if you decide to breed, you should breed whichever morphs you love most :D right now my goal is mack snows, and super snows! but i have standing deals with my local reptile shop to sell them any babies i dont keep or rehome myself... the advantages of knowing the owner there since i was born! :D plus i already have a small reputation with them as a rosy boa breeder! maybe there is a shop near you that you could make a deal with?

I'm in MA and vend at the NH show in Manchester As far as I know you don't need any kind of license to breed/sell. If you check out geckotime.com/archives you can find my articles about "breeding geckos on a small scale" and "how to sell your geckos.
