Question about the maximum temperature

I recently bought a gecko with a 10Gal second hand (you can call it a rescue). It was on some sort of dirt so I put a repti-carpet. But now the temperature is raising to high. I tried to put several layers of paper under the carpet but it's still to hot. So I ordered a rheostat (dimmer). But it's gonna arrive probly in a week or two. My question is can a gecko handle 97-98 degres for a week or two without any harm? Even at that temperature she hardly leave the hot side so I'm concerned.

Thanks

That is a little hot. I think she should be fine as long as she has access to the cool side.

Keep a close eye on the temps and make sure they don't go even higher. You can go to Lowes or Home depot and get a dimmer for lamps and things that plug in for about 10 dollars they work just like a reostat I have 4 tanks and all of them have one and they work great

About a lamp dimmer like that, do they work with UTH? If yes then I got riped off with this 30$ rheostat.

Yeah, they work fine with a UTH, I bought two at Home Depot a couple of months ago and have been using them with no problems ever since.

Even if those rwmps went up to 100 degrees, your gecko will not cook... With this being said, the optimal temp for a hot spot would be betweet 95 and 97 degrees... That is what you should aim for...

Right in the middle by the light is a up and down slide that adjusts the electricity to the mat I have 3 20gal longs and one 20gal tall the longs are a little higher than half way so if you get them I would start a little under or right at half way and check the temps every hr or so till you get it to stay at one temp for couple hrs then if that isn't where you want it raise it and check it all over till you get desired temps. Some people say 95-97 is good but just from what I have learned 90-95 on hot end and 78-85 on cool.

I see many here use temps on the warm side in the mid 90s. I wonder if that is too hot. Tremper says never expose them to over 91 degrees....he shoots for around 85-90 I believe in his book.
