Questions about Tanks.

This is my tank for my gecko he is around 4 inches in length from head to tail. SO he is still very small.
The question is. I have quite a bit in his 10 gallon tank right now. I plan on removing some of the stuff as he gets older. Or keeping it all and just getting him a larger tank. Anyways the question is. Do you guys think I have to much in the tank?

That bark log like structure is what I use as a wet house. I spray he moss with water every day to get it wet. Is that a good enough of a wet house?

The water dish is on the left and the tree stump like bowl holds the calcium powder stuff and worms when he is hungry. Ha you can tell where he sleeps..

That set up looks fine for now. A 20Long would be better. It would also let you house anouther leopard.

My leopard is a male. From what I heard unless I want eggs.. Which I don't. I can't house him with anything other then himself.
I do plan on getting him a larger tank in the summer. But as of now I'm in my junior year of college. So money is rough. Not so rough I can't buy food for him. But a new tank would be to much.

You need to add a small dish with calcium also.

The calcium that I have is in that tree trunk looking thing. Should I get somethign thats not as high? like a clean jar lid or something?

The jar lid would work. I use Gatorade bottle tops. I thought that was a food dish for mealworms. Some people use the food dish as a calcium dish also. I have watched about 5 of my leopard geckos eat calcium. It is cool to see them. they just walk up to it and lick it.

Thats fine, he will be fine in there for all his life. I wouldnt reccomend adding another leos, like you said above, it would have to be a female and unless you are wanting to breed, its not a good idea..

i dont personally think there is too much in the tank....but it depends on your gecko. Mine LOVE to climb so they like alot of stuff...they seem to be bored and just sleep is there is nothing to climb on or under up up. Some geckos though dont really like to climb.

I like it though.

Thanks for the comments. Every now and then he will climb up and lay on of those giant green leafs and just lay there and watch people enter my room. He can be to nosy.
The one thing I was pondering about was that food bowl. I do put the calcium powder in it then the worms also in it. But it is rather high and to be honest I'm not even sure he looks inside it at all. regardless I gut-load my crickets so that helps.

All 12 leopards I have in my dispaly tanks like climbing. The leopards I have in my rack love climbing everytime I take them out of their containers. So I would have to say that all 24 leopard geckos I have love to climb lol.

That helps. I'm an illustration major so I really don't know what kinda work I'm going to be doing after school. I want to challenge myself and do a detailed rendering of a Gecko. They have such cool skin. If I do it I'll let you guys know :). So many awesome pictures of gecko's.

Karl--keep your eyes out on places like Freecycle.org. You can get free tanks there all the time. I've scored all sorts of stuff from lights to hides, 20L with an oak base cabinet too. Just be sure that whatever you do get you dissinfect with extra care. You never know what was housed in it before your gecko. I've had no problems though.

I like your tank, but I agree that you may want to lower the calcium dish (just use a jar lid or something similar). Other than that, looks good to me.

I'm a college student too. And freecycle has saved me a bunch of money on tanks. I've gotten everything from 10 gallons to the coller I made into my incubator. Yo ushould totaly check it out.

at only around 4" in length it might be tough to tell for sure if it's a male or female... how did you find out it was a male if you don't mind me asking?

From my knowledge. Both Gender's have delta shaped scales in that area. The males pores are more define. To be honest I think I was wrong calling it a him. I'm having a friend who goes to school with me and has had gecko's for 6 years come check it out. I would like to get her a cage buddy if its a girl before she is to old and wont adapt.

As for the dish I did lower it. I now have a low jar lid. Which I scrubbed out. ;) I also got a new hide for the cage which the gecko LOVES. its really nice ;).. what else.. I think thats about it. I need to get a temometer that can measure the heat on the floor of the UTH. Step by step.. hoi..
