Being new to the genetics thing I had a real quick question. From what I can gather Stripe is a recessive gene. Are Jungles a recessive gene in their own right or is it more llike a normal x stripe produce jungles. Thanks for help

I think i found my answer though I am not sure if I fully undertsand. I read all of the discussions in back dated posts and got a little clarification but it is still confusing. It seemed that there were a couple of different opionions on wether it was a simple recessive or a line bred trait. Any light shed on the subject would be greatly appreicated.

The simple answer is that you'll probably never get a simple answer to that question! I think Marcia explained it about as well as it can be.

Stripes are funny, and really you can have two very nice striped parents paired up and get something that looks ...well not striped. haha! Or two parents that aren't so greatly striped and can pop out some awesome looking babys. I think thats why I liked dabbling in them. Always a surprise in the incubator. :)
