potatoes or carrots for moisture. I'm also using water gel for moisture. Living in Arizona, it is harder to keep moisture available for them (veggies dry out fast, but at least they don't tend to mold). I've added the water gel and it seems to be appreciated. I'm just pouring some on a mealworm container lid and I think enough is seeping through the holes for the mealies.

I use oatmeal and cornmeal for bedding. I run the oatmeal through the food processor to chop it up some. The mix I’m using is about 10:2 oatmeal to yellow cornmeal.

For moisture I use a slice of apple on top of a piece of wax paper to keep it off the meal and prevent mold. I have to change the apple out about every other day.

On a related note to using dried milk... I have young son so I have an abundant amount of baby formula. I've considered adding some to the mix but wasn't sure if it would make a difference. I think I might try it now that I see someone using dried milk.

I'm trying to get a colony going so I can stop buying them so far I've gotten one beetle. But that worm went to the pupa stage really early I think it was probably a rogue mature worm that snuck into the mix at the farm. I feel so sorry for the little guy he has got to be lonely.
