so im building a rack.. it is gonna be my first one..im wondering if i have to treat whatever type of wood im getting (most likely plywood) so when i put the heat tape on it it doesnt catch on fire?. and will it warp if i dont treat it and some tubs get a little humid?

Save time and energy by just getting laminated particle board or something along those lines. I wouldn't use straight particle board. Warping will occur if too much weight is applied without enough support (treated or not).

If it is just for leos where the overall humidity is low than plywood is ok but i would support the shelves to prevent bowing.Your heat tape will not burn the wood.
