Quick stupid question regarding water cystals

Just got some water crystals in the mail with no instructions. I need them for starting my Dubia roach colony. What do I do? Add water to them in a bowl? How many crystals? How big a bowl? I'm starting with 100 roaches. This is all new to me.

I use 1/4 teaspoon of crystals to 16 oz water.

I will have to try your method because if that works, your crystals are going to go a lot farther than mine. Here's what I do:

--put 4 cups of water in a bowl (that's 32 oz)
--heat the water in the microwave for about 2 minutes (the original instructions I read recommended using warm water)
--add 2 Tablespoons of crystals (that's really different from Tony's suggestion, so I'm going to try it his way unless he tells me he typed the wrong measurement there)
--wait till it turns into gel, and save in a container. Then you can dispense it as you need it.

I just double checked, it's actually 1/2 TSP of crystals. Seems weird that our measurements are so far off, I wonder if there are crystals with different absorbancies.

I think it is better to put more water with the crystal and leave it overnight. When the crystals are fully soaked and expand, they are clear with NO air bubbles. Otherwise, you'll be able to see tiny air bubbles in them.
