R.I.P Slick [help?]

My leopard gecko Slick passed away today. I found her after I came home from a friend's house. I'd had her since March, and in the past couple of weeks she hasn't had any appetite at all. Her tail didn't seem to be getting any smaller though, so I figured that it just had to do with the winter and that she'd be okay once it warmed up. I kind of had the feeling that I should've taken her to a vet, and I decided that if she still wasn't eating in another week or so I would. I came home to find her dead this afternoon.

When we wrapped her up to bury her, I noticed a bright green spot on her belly that wasn't there before. What does it look like? Is it some sort of infection? I'd like to know if she had some sort of bug that killed her or if she just died of some sort of natural cause.

sorry to hear she died :(.
I am guessing the green spot could be the intestine bacteria starting to eat its way out ???
I really dont know, but I too hope you get your answer.

Was she laying on the hot spot when you found her??? Some times the body can break down faster when it is laying on the heat source...

This is another reason why I feel the "winter slow down" is not a good answer to give when someones leo is not eating...
Its a good idea to raise the temps during these months... The animal does not slow down during the winter when the floor and ambient temps are kept hot, so if it stops eating, you will know there could be a more serious issue... Avoiding the winter cool down can avoid issues like this...

Anyway, sorry for your loss... It does not look like an infection... It look like the start of the animal starting to decay to me...

She was laying in the corner on the hot side, but not right over the heating pad, and had her face all squished against the glass in the corner.

I did put the heat lamp on a couple of weeks ago for added heat, and after that she started coming out and hanging out on the hot side constantly. Still wouldn't eat though.

Thanks for your help.

I'm very sorry for your loss, the green spot appears to be a burst gallbladder.
