I have started using racks for a fuctionality persperctive, however I am wondering if geckos truely like living in them as they are dark and can't see out. thoughts??
IMO, i think that they would prefer it. my AFT is in a glass aquarium, and dont like it when i even walk in the room, he seems very nearvous around me. (havent had him very long). racks would cause less stress on them and with the opaque/darker sides of the enclosure they feel safer. im sure when you get them out for feeding and handleing that it changes the "dull pace" pace enough for them. if i had the money/time and knowledge, id have a bunch of geckos all in racks.
I dont use racks so cant say about them but mainly use glass aquariums for my herps and never had any problems. If an animal is getting stressed it probly means you need more hides/cover, or need to add a backround or even constrution paper in the back and maybe the sides of the cage. Never had to do thsis in my 10+ years but know people who have had to, but thats normally for water dragons or basilisks.
