I've been searching for more information on this morph, but I can't find anything other than its the bell form of a RAPTOR.
I reacently purchased an eclispe het radar. How would I go about making radars with a bell male paired with her?
I'm thinking possibly next year, or the year after. Planning ahead!

I'm not sure what you're asking but, a radar is the bell version of the raptor. You're correct. And if you have an eclipse het radar you could pair it with anything het radar or a radar.... Or a bell het radar would get you a slight chance for them.

I have a 1.4 group of all het radars this season.
Good luck

I am unaware of any possible hets that my bell may or may not carry.
So what your saying is my bell would have to be het for radar or it wouldnt work?
Would the babies they produce be het for radar?

If you breed an Eclipse 100% het Bell to a Bell non-het, you'd end up with the following...

1.) 50% of offspring will be Normal 100% het Bell and Eclipse
2.) 50% of offspring will be Bell 100% het Eclipse

With a Bell male and an Eclipse het Bell female, you could produce a mix of Bells het for Eclipse and double hets for Eclipse and Bell. Assuming you produce a male Bell, you then breed that male back to the mother and some of his sisters. The answer is yes, in year two of your project, you could produce radars.

So would I breed a normal back to mom or the bell back to mom?
Then what would I get.
COnfused!

Your chances are slightly better if you breed the Bell het Eclipse back to their mother. With that cross, you'll get all Bell Albinos, some visual Eclipse and some 100% het Eclipse.

But really, it's up to you. It's all about your long term vision of what you believe you'd like RADARs to look like.

For example, you could incubate some of the first year offspring for both male and female, then hold back the ones that express visually some of the polygenic, or line bred, traits you're looking for (such as Hypo or Tangerine). Then, not only could you use Mom as a breeder in the second year, but you could cross some of the other sibling females as well. That way, some of those "year two" hatchlings should display even better results for the polygenic traits. Hope that makes sense.

Okay, I understand the polygenic part...
I'm still confused on the RADAR part. What MAKES a RADAR? With breeding the offspring back to mom and sisters, what do they have that the male alone doesnt?

(Sorry for being a newb, but thank you for your help!)

A radar is a bell albino eclipse. Displaying both bell albino and eclipse in it's phenotype.

So as was stated, a RADAR is visually displaying both Bell Albino and Eclipse.

If you bred a Bell to an Eclipse, you'd still only get Normals 100% het Bell and Eclipse. That's because both the Bell and Eclipse traits are recessive.

So after the hatchlings from that pairing mature, you'd have to breed them back to each other to produce RADARs. Hope this makes it a little clearer.
