Storm clouds rolling in (south east Queensland, Australia)

2j43w5f.jpg

This was the worst storm to hit Queensland, the amount of damage it did was incredible, many people in the worst hit places lost their homes. Luckily where i live all that happened was the brick wall in my back yard got blown over some how, trees were ripped apart and some even ripped out the the ground, had a little water damage in the house but nothing bad. shame i lost all my other photos of the storm and the damage it did.

beautiful photos. i live in texas in the hill country and we get flash floods quite often. the la st really bad flash flood we have which has been several years ago now. we got hit with 58cm of rain in less than 24 hours. it was horrible. they called that flood a one hundred year storm. we get thunder and lightening, tornadoes all kinds of nasty stuff.

go you guys get storms that often?

No, we don't often get storms here. The typical day in Queensland is clear blue sky's with temps usually in the low to mid 30's and quite a bit of humidity as Queensland has more of a tropical climate where as WA for example is more of a dry heat. It takes a little getting used to.

Storm season here is actually around Christmas lol. Christmas is the hottest time of the year and i mean HOT. We eat Christmas dinner out on the back deck hoping for a cool breeze. LOL as you can imagine the eclectic bill is sky high around this time of year because all the air conditioning gets turned on.

Bull ant nest in the leaf of a macadamia tree ( Bull ants are a big ant can sting repeatedly. The pain from a bull ant sting can last an hour sometimes longer. best not walk under trees lol)

Australia is a beautiful country, I have lived here about 16 years now and i still feel lucky. Queensland in particular is awesome, we have great weather year round, tropical rain forests, arid bushland, massive variety of wildlife, allot of history, great places to see, loads to do and ofcourse for those that were a fan of Steve Irwin the croc hunter, Queensland is home to Australia zoo.

We also have the best beaches and surf in Australia but also the most dangerous surf and marine life. (Tourists need to read the signs at the beaches and stay between the flags as the rips here can be dangerous) The Aussie way of life is probably a little strange at first, as its so layed back and easy going here.

Have a good one-

Some weird little burrow. there are no burrowing spiders native to QLD but i guess anythings possible, that or some kind of reptile made it.

That's all for now.
