Hi guys,

I have a question that I want to clarify about the RAPTORs. The RAPTOR morph necessarily have red eyes? RAPTOR (Red-eye Albino Patternless Tremper ORange)

I ask this because I see many raptors that eyes are not red. I also bought a raptor (not arrived yet) that the eyes are not red.

An example from youtube (he is similar to mine):
Raptor Leopard Gecko - YouTube

What is your opinion about this?

Thank you (sorry for any mistake)

Even though it may not look like it at a glance I'm pretty sure the gecko in that video has snake eyes which is a form of eclipse. The gecko also looks albino to me. Depending on the light the eyes of an albino can look darker or lighter but they are red as an albino lacks the melanin needed to make make black pigment.

It's becoming more and more common for anything that's eclipse and tremper to be called a raptor even tho the original morph was a patternless stripe. Nowadays its more or less a matter of opinion what exactly a raptor should look like but having the eclipse and tremper genes is a must.

Lisa is right the raptor isn't just albino and eclipse it was originally patternless stripe as well but now there is a wider acceptance some of my raptors have dark red eyes that could be mistaken for black in the wrong lighting ... To answer your question , yes raptors have some sort of red in the eyes even when it's close to having solid normal eyes you will still see red in the pupil.

Ron Tremper Himself has posted about this on the Blog. Saying Raptor is now known to be just eclipse tremper.

Remember the discussion of eye color? Well my gecko has one eye of each color. Very curious...

By the way, is even a Raptor?

Looks Raptor to me, also from the angle of the bottom picture may be snake eyed as well. Very pretty :)

A Raptor without red eyes is considered an Aptor, R.A.P.T.O.R. is an acronym for red eyed albino patternless Tremper orange, without red eyes its just an albino patternless tremper orange

Hello again guys

Here is my RAPTOR in the pictures. I have a question I hope you will help me.

I bought my RAPTOR in a pet shop. I'm not absolutely sure that it is a RAPTOR. I remind you that he has an eye of each color (snake eye and dark red).

Does he have the same genes of the "true" RAPTORs?
And that future litters their genes "are valid" as the "standard" RAPTORs?

If the question was confusing let me know

Thank you and sorry for any error

Are you differentiating thi sone from a "true Raptor" because it has one snake eye and one red eye, or because you got it at the petstore? As I understand it, snake eyes are considered to be a sign of eclipse so yes, it's a Raptor just like any other Raptor. If you mean the petstore, it still holds.

Hello Aliza,

Thanks for your answer.

I say this because to the provenance be a pet store they did not know me inform which are the progenitors so it is always a "mystery".

However seems to me to even be a RAPTOR because it fulfills all the requirements (Red eye, Albino, Tremper, Orange) but does not have the 2 red eyes.

Thank you
