RAPTOR X Albino het. APTOR = RAPTOR???

Hello all,

I have not posted here for a couple months but started hatching leos about a month ago and one of them has me a little confused? I bred a RAPTOR male to an Albino het. APTOR and got a RAPTOR hatchling. Does this necessarily mean the female was a het. RAPTOR? I remember reading a few posts a while back about APTORS producing RAPTORS and I thought there was some confidence that the APTORS that produced them did not have the Eclipse gene present? I would assume they must have but I am interested in your replies!

Correction!!!

I just checked my records and realized the female was an APTOR het. RAPTOR. Sorry about that, but I do remember hearing of people getting RAPTORS out of crosses they didn't expect them from?

Sometimes the eclipse gene is het and the breeder has no idea so they get a RAPTOR out of the cross.

Pretty much every Aptor, and het Aptor is "het" for the Eclipse "gene". The "Patternless Stripe" trait has more to do with it, than it being an actual het for Eclipse/Raptor.

The genetics work in the same way as the patterning traits, working together to produce "new" types. In the same way that Reverse Stripes were produced from Jungle/Stripe lines, Aptors/Patternless Stripes were produced from Stripe/Reverse Stripe lines. "Raptor" is just the next step.

Alot of het Aptors/Aptors, thought to be non-het (by RT and the rest of us)were proven, since the release of the very first ones. Even the "Patternless Red Stripe" line, not related to any Aptors/Raptors, proves out to work in the same way, producing "homemade Het Raptors". So it seems, it comes from the combination of genes as a whole, not one single simple recessive trait.

Dan's right IMO, all APTOR's are also Het RAPTOR.

Very interesting!!! I knew I read something along those lines in the past but didn't get that far into it since I wasn't working with the APTOR/RAPTOR project at the time.
