Is there or can there ever be a rating system for leos? Or atleast a one set standard for what morph is what? I know everybody names there morphs something different but shouldnt there be some sort of standard? As far as a rating system for what they look like with the best looking ones getting a higher rating than others. I was just thinking about it and would like to hear from some of you on it.

Bill (Williammce1) and I have Talked about this Over and Over... It will be interesting to See what everyone Else has to Say about it. But I too Think it will Be a Good Idea and would help Limit alot of Confusion for New People Coming into The Hobby, And i am Sure it would be Helpful for those who are already in it.

If it was established in the 90's it may have worked, but not this day in age especially with the Market the way its in.

I think it would be possible to do. It would be hard to get everyone to agree on the samething but I think if there was a standard set it could work. Wouldnt help everyone out? I know it would make thing easier on the new people thinking about buying a gecko for the first time.

I think the standards are pretty well set. A few of them can be a bit confusing, but most people with experience looking at leopard geckos can instantly identify most morphs.

Honestly Leopard Gecko Morphs and genetics are fairly simple compared to other reptiles such as Ball Pythons or Cornsnakes.

Every Leo is different. Trying to set standards may only complicate things more. Most of us have a good idea of what the ideal example of any given morph should look like. One of the main things that prevents standards from being set is the number of people out there who don't know what morph(s) they have in the first place. For those people it would be pure guess work, which would poke holes in the standards because of the uncertainty.

This topic has been discussed in depth over the years...and a few people have even made worthy attempts at getting it started. But, as stated earlier, it's just too hard to get everyone to agree on a set standard. Some of us "rogue" breeders like to start new projects...and bend the rules every chance we get ;) It'd be hard for standards to keep up!
