My names RJ. I have been on and off geckoforums.net for awhile. I have had Leopard Geckos when I was younger but never lost the bug. I have wanted to get some for little over a year, and I finally took the leap. I was out with the family today and happened to stumble into a petstore with no intentions of getting one. I felt bad knowing how they treat them at petstores and since my birthday is this Sunday I went ahead and added a new member to the family. I will put up pictures tonight. It is a subadult about 7 inches long, no pattern, all yellow with some dark yellow spots. It also has some carrottail. I've noticed already since I brought it home and put it under the headlight for a bit, it has lightened up. I have a day lamp and a red night lamp, the thermometer reads 86f at the moment. It is on paper towels with a vitamin tray and a water bowl. I put some crickets in when we got home and it devoured all 10 dusted crickets. I will post pictures in a bit, hopefully you can help me sex this Leo. Super stoked I finally went ahead and got one, but like I said it has been some years since I've had one. Any insight and/or tips feel free to inform me.

Thanks,
RJ

Welcome back. You should switch your day light to a UTH. Geckos are nocturnal and have developed the ability to absorb heat better through their bellies than their backs. They can actually burn themselves by trying to warm up under a bulb. Other than that it all sounds good. Congrats on the new addition.

Thanks. You know I knew I should of went with UTH, oh well. I will switch to that asap. Does the UTH stay on at all times?

Also how often and how many crickets/mealworms is a good healthy diet?

The UTH will be on all the time and you should invest in a thermostat...but it not entirely needed as long as a heat gradient is provided and the gecko can escape the heat when they want.

This is Cera. Saved her for 25$ at the local pet shop.

She's roughly 7 inches nose to tip of tail. Any estimates on age?
