REALLY weird superworm experience

I was feeding my geckos tonight and one of the females was given a superworm in her hide. When I moved the hide to check on her, she looked uncomfortable. At first I thought she had a superworm protruding from her mouth but then I realized it was coming out of her EAR! There's no way this superworm could have crawled into her ear because its head was coming out the ear and it could not have either backed in nor turned around in there. I pulled it out. I just can't even contemplate how anatomically she could have eaten a superworm and had it coming out her ear. I am really grossed out.

The only problem I have ever had with supers was a bit on the lip of my gecko. I treated it with peroxide and it healed up fine.

This seems very illogical, something weird must have happened?

Yuck! I can't even imagine how shocked you must have been. Maybe (I emphasize word maybe, I am not a vet or biologist, but it would seem reasonable) geckos have a similar channel linking mouth, nose and ear as people do. This would make it possible for superworm to crawl up this way to geckos ear without causing severe damage to the gecko. Just guessing. Anyways, it sounds awful!

It was pretty gross! This same gecko, at her last feeding, tried a few superworms, chomped on them and spat them out. She's eating crickets now.

I hate supers they just gross me out just looking at them, But they get fed to my large emperor scorpion. My leopard gecko only gets the small meal worms and on occasion (once or twice a month: wax worm treat). Now I hear all these problems with supers and giants., no way they will go near my gecko.

Ew. I'm so torn about supers. My bigger geckos love them, but I'm wary of feeding them. This doesn't help my dilemma. Haha! Are the small ones quite as creepy?
