I have all of my hatchlings in Microsoft Excel. I'm currently in the process of moving all of my stuff to the Database software in Open Office.

I use both a notebook and the computer, but not software. I have a yearly datebook with a small space to write for each day. I record when eggs are laid and when they hatch. Eventually I transfer it to a word processing document where I list each clutch for each pairing with the following info: date laid, date hatched or other (e.g. molded and discarded), distinguishing marks of the hatchlings, date sold, to whom sold and weight when sold. I don't include gender because they're all females so far. If I decide to use a software program, I'll have all the data and I can enter it retroactively. I try to type up a general summary at the end of each season. This works for me because I'm producing less than 40 hatchlings per season. I wouldn't be able to do that if I was a large-scale breeder.

I keep super detailed records with Herp Care Software. There are a few things I would change on it, but it is a GREAT program. You can get that here. I keep records for everything. If I notice they limped once and never again, I write it down.

That xls is two years old so I pretty much know which row each gecko is ... Sometimes I have to scroll back, but that only takes like 0.25 second... (having a widescreen monitor helps a lot) :main_thumbsup:

You can also freeze cells in Excel which allows you to scroll to the left and/or right but keep the cells you have frozen will stay put.
