Refrigerating crix

The way I feed crix is, I scoop a bunch up in a little plastic cup, dust them. and drop them in the tank with 8'' tweezers one at a time. I make sure they eat the one I dropped in before dropping in another one. I dont just dump a bunch in there and walk away. I hate the way the crix almost always find a hidding place and run around the tank. They can also really stress the animal.
Sometimes, if they arent very hungry, they will only eat a few. So if I put more then one at a time in there, I end up having to hunt down to ones that arent eaten (which is a pain in the butt!!!).
I have tried removing the back legs, but that is hard to do when you have several dozen of them in a little cup.

I am thinking about just putting them in the refrigerator after dusting for 5 or 10 minutes to knock the fight out of them.
Has anyone tried that?

I do feed dubias as well, but I am almost out of those. I would like to get into a position where I can feed the dubias as a staple diet. But I have to wait and get a colony going full steam before that could be feasible.

stick them in a cup and stick them in the freezer after dusting for 5 minutes, it will slow there blood flow down and they will be very weak and slow. but still move enough for the gecko to be interested

Ahhhh! the freezer! that sounds better.
Last night I put them in the frige for about 15 minutes. It did slow them down allot, but they perked up to quickly, so that wasnt much help.
Tonight I will try your freezer suggestion.
I just really hate having to chase down unwanted crix. I have to move things around, or take them out completely to find and catch the little buggers :main_angry:
