3 MONTHS TO THE DAY ago...

quite a ridiculous story, ending with an even more ridiculous surprise.
Riding back from a nights birthday celebration, the truck was full. My girlfriend was sitting behind me, and all the sudden i hear a seatbelt unclick, a giant figure flying to the other side of the truck and screaming, "THERES A REALLY BIG BUG OVER THERE!!! IT TOUCHED MY ARM!!! TURN ON THE LIGHT TURN ON THE LIGHT" next thing you know shes saying its a gecko its a gecko. She's still wigged about it climbing up her as she was sitting there..

well it turns out that the male patternless that had escaped in the truck 3 months ago has managed to survive starvation, dehydration, erratic temperatures and so much more.

Hopefully this little guy survives... he's been through enough already....

here's a quick snap shot of the fella. He's got stuck shed and is real skinny, but no missing toes or anything. Hopefully not much is wrong on the inside because he could look a whole lot worse from the outside.

holy smokes! I'm glad you were able to find him!

man, I would have FREAKED if I thought a bug that big was on me in the car... lol... I bet that was a funny situation...

again, I'm glad you found him, I hope he will be back up to weight and healthy very soon!

Thanks guys! He is in the moist hide right now. i really cant express how crazy the situation was! The picture makes him look way brighter than in person. He is nearly a grey/black not brown, including the tail! I think if he makes it through the night we have a good chance.

We think his name is going to be Ford, after the Ford F150 he lived in for 3 months!

I love that name. I just have to share a story now too. It is short though. When I was in elementary school (2nd Grade) I had a firebelly toad, that got lost in my basement (I did have a top of the cage) then 5 YEARS later I found him (7th Grade) he was skin and bones, nothing else. I didn't have a cage set up for him anymore, so I set up one up that I figured would last him the night, until I could go to Petco tomorrow, however he got out of that one to, and I haven't seen him sense, Senior year in high school.

I really glad you found that one again, though, and that really is a great name

When I found my gecko that was lost for 6 months in my basement I immediately placed her in about an 8th inch of luke warm water overnight so he could re hydrate. This will also help him get rid of any stuck shed. You can do this a few times for a few days If he has bad stuck shed.

we're doing the soak right now. His head shed was still on him this morning and we're pretty sure he did not eat a thing or even really move all night.

Wow, good thing you found him before this summer. If he would have even made it that long. I`de guess he will make it now, but good luck!

lol it is pretty awesome. it was as if he decided he had had enough of hiding and thought crawling up Jill's arm was the best possible way to turn himself in. Good thing he didn't get whacked and squashed since she thought it was a giant bug at first!
I have no idea how he did it. When he escaped it was in the 40's and 50's some nights. Now for the last couple weeks the inside of that truck has been WELL OVER 100 degrees on the hot days!
