Hi all,

I rescued this sweet girl. The previous owner said they had her for 7ish years and for the past year, she has been shedding nonstop on her face. I've started doing humidity treatments (placing her in a container with warm water and a paper towel at the bottom) and gently trying to encourage the shed to come off with a q-tip in the areas where it is starting to peel off. I didnt do this much though because i didnt want to irritate her skin more that it already is and she didnt like it at all! She was making quiet noises tonight during her humidity treatment that were almost like little cries... devastating. You can see in the pictures that she also has some sores on her lips and the stuck shed has caused some disformation of her mouth causing her to not be able to fully close it. She is still interested in food which is amazing and gives me hope for her outcome. Her left eye with the shed on it is closed in the picture but when its open you can see a functioning eye is under the eyecap so thats good too. She accepts food from a tong, but has trouble aiming correctly. Almost as if her depth perception is affected. Im hoping when the left eye cap comes off that will improve. I just want to make sure im doing everything i can to help this little girl recover and have a good quality life.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I know this sounds awful, but I recommend that you hold her and use your fingernails (or a tweezer near the eye) and pull this stuff off. It's possible that she now has an infection in her mouth and she may need a vet visit for antibiotics.
