This november we had to put our little "big" guy down. He was diabetic and while out of town at a wedding he went into neuropathy. We got him back and walking (he still needed help getting up at time). Then he refused to eat and overnight went down hill fast. We gave him a day of monitoring his insulin and getting him back in range etc... but there were too many other complications. He is missed dearly.

Oh no... I am heartsick for you! It leaves such a huge hole in our lives when we lose one of our beloved companions. You and your family have my deepest condolences.

Thank you Marcia. He was my wife's dog before we had even started dating. I think we are now starting to move on but you are right it leaves a hole.

It takes such a long time for hearts to heal after a loss like that. At least your hearts were big enough to let him go so he wouldn't have to suffer. That's a very hard decision to have to make. I wish they could just live forever!
