Sorry to hear that George Carlin passed away yesterday at the age of 71 due to heart failure. We've always loved his comedy - many firends in my generation and my parents' generation, and so on and so forth.

Besides his infamous "Seven Dirty Words," George Carlin had a great sense of humor that will be greatly missed.

RIP G.C.

yes. a sad day.
i got a text from a friend and avid fan of his early this morning and barely understood what i was reading, but came to the realization of what it said later when i was fully awake and was...upset, to say the least, at the news.

Some of you may not really know George Carlin. He came out of my era. He was TRULY an amazing comedian, but more than that, he was a pioneer for the type or 'real' humor that was considered over the top at the time. He said it like it was. He was an AMERICAN, and proud of it... even if it was satirical.

All you have to do is do a Google search for "George Carlin on being an American", and you will know what he was about.

He was 'real' Amercian Idol.

I got the email yesterday morning from my mother, titled "A sad day for us "old hippies."

His book, "Brain Droppings" has been in our library for years.

Guess he gets to test those theories on reincarnation now.

He will be sorely missed.:(

I had the pleasure of seeing George Carlin perform live many years ago when he was in Jersey. He was incredible to say the least. He will be missed by many.

I think we all agree with you on this one. I wasn't alive to experience all of what he did during his time, but I've always known about him and who he was and many of us "younger ones" were still affected greatly by his comedy.

I could not agree with you more

Since I am around the same age as you are-I also remember his early days in the comedy world and he was considered shocking at that time

He really did "Tell It Like It Is"

He will be greatly missed
