This is the first year we have bred our geckos. Our first two beautiful babies and only two for this year were SHTCTB. They were big and healthy. Well we came home last night to find one of the babies now almost 2 months old covered in ants and still alive. I have no idea what attracted the ants to the tub besides Jacy had just fed crickets and meal worms the night before and this tub was on the bottom of the shelf. Well with all the after care we gave the little girl she didn't make it.

As some of you know Jacy pet sits for Marcia while she is away. Jacy takes excellent care of her Geckos. Now my little girl is home from school today because she is so upset. :sad2:

I am so sorry for your loss. What a horrible thing to happen. I hope your little girl and the rest of you feel better soon.

Jacy, I am so very sorry this tragedy has occurred with one of your very first babies. I know how much you love and care for your geckos, and I am heartsick for you. It's not your fault! These Argentine ants are ruthless, and I have lost 3 babies to the same problem in the past year.

I am here for you, Jacy. When you feel like you can, give me a call or come over and we can talk about it. I can only offer my love and support, and can try help you with coping. I can give you suggestions for ways to prevent this from happening again.

wow, the ants march right in like that! I'm so sorry for that horrible discovery. Is there something you can do to prevent it from happening again? Maybe Marcia knows? Again, I'm sorry you lost the lil leo.

I would appreciate any tips you could give, Marcia. We lost 3 animals to ants this season. Two of them just so happened to be my favorite crested gecko sub-adult that we hatched out earlier this year and a sub-adult red nephrurus levis levis male.

Jacy, as you can tell, I can relate. :(
