I have a hatchling that is a raptor but doesnt have the red eyes but her clutch mate has ruby eyes.if I breed the one back without red eyes back to my male raptor when shes breeding age i'm assuming she has the genetics to give her hatchling red eyes correct.I guess my question would be if I breed one animal with ruby eyes and the other without will I still get some hatchlings with ruby eyes??

"Ruby eyes" is just the albino version of the eclipse gene, which is simple recessive. So, Since the parent is homozygous for eclipse(the raptor male) all his offspring will either be eclipse or 100% het for eclipse. So, breeding the het hatchling(the one that does not express the eclipse trait visually) back to the father all of their offspring will either be eclipse or 100% het for eclipse. To answer your question, if you breed an animal that has "ruby eyes" to an animal that is heterozygous for "ruby eyes" then you will get 50% ruby eyed babies and 50% babies who are 100% heterozygous for ruby eyes. However, if the non-ruby eyed animal is not het for the gene, then all offspring will lack ruby eyes, but will be 100% het for ruby eyes.
