I hope someone knows the answer.
I want to paint some terrarium furniture. Is there any such thing as a paint thats safe for my leo? Something that wont flake or rub off?
There HAS to be something on the market that's completly non-toxic!! :main_huh:
If I have any doubts at all, I just wont do it.

I believe most people just use traditional paint products and wait to put them into the enclosure until all of the odor has dispersed, but I have often wondered about the possiblity of paint chips as well.

If you're really worried about paint, there are quite a few eco-friendly non-toxic paints out there now. You might want to check out some sites like these:

http://www.eartheasy.com/live_nontoxic_paints.htm

http://www.ecosafetyproducts.com/Non-Toxic-Paint-s/1.htm

http://www.mythicpaint.com/

I can't promise they are 100% safe for leos, but they are much more natural based than the more traditional paints.

acrylic paints and tempera paints are non toxic. acrylics are bonded with plastic and temperas are bonded with egg whites so they are completely safe.
make sure they dry completely before putting it in the terrarium. the cheap walmart brand acrylic craft paints tend to be very watery and flaky, but the better quality paints may cost a bit more but dont flake off and are more opaque so you can get more use out of them. the Plaid brands are the cheapest monetarily and quality. I tend to favor Liquitex Acrylics.
they both can be thinned with water very easily.

Good luck, and I would love to see what you came up with!

ah. ok. thats what i thought. i know im allergic to the latex in the paint when its wet so id make sure its completely dry before putting it in with the gecko. otherwise that should be safe too, just make sure if youre going to use house paint, you stay away from lead based paint. who knows what it would do to a gecko. :)
