Is that what the vet said to use?
I don't think It's stuck shed, but how would I tell if it is? I am going to try what you posted tomorrow when I can get some Q-TIPS. I am not sure where to find a good herp vet my vet that I've been going to fix his vent problem but he's not sure about the eyes.Sensitive eye saline is fine. ks, the instruction is what I posted in you recent eye thread (post#4), not putting in a drop a day. IF it is a stuck shed, you must get it out before it becomes infected. And it will. If it's something else get him to a good herp vet or he will have a much more serious problem. I am not a vet but my vet has helped me with this before.
I had a gecko with an eye problem like that, honestly the simplest thing you can do is get some extra strength visine and it will flush the cloudiness right out.
gently splash water
over the body including the head and face.
KS, I meant to ask this in your other thread but here's as good a place as any; why are you taking your gecko to the vet weekly if the vet keeps telling you he doesn't know what's wrong? He doesn't sound like a very good exotics vet, which is what you need for a reptile. I don't want to rag on you, but researching whether or not my area had vets experienced with exotic animals was one of the things I did before purchasing my first reptile. Also, if he's telling you the same thing each time and you keep going in every week, you're just wasting money for him to repeat himself.
No nothing came out of his eye and the cloudiness is still there..You "got it done"? Does that mean the cloudiness was stuck shed and it came off?
MagnumGecko said Visine clears up cloudiness, I didnt know. Nothing came out. I dont know what to do about my vet I called and he said he works on leopard geckos and that hes bread a lot of them. No, they don't like it, but after it's done, they are so happy. Don't use visine again, use plain artificial tears, but only as a moisturizinog drop, not for shed removal. The saline is all that was needed for a wash, NOT additional eye drops. Did anything come out of the eye with a q-tip?
There are vets who are willing to phone consult with other vets in order to help them learn how to diagnose and treat specific herp issues. If your vet would locate some of these resources, it could be good for his practice.
Why on earth would you use Visine??? Visine should not be used at all, under any circumstances!! (unless you are using it on yourself)
I fail to understand why you go to the vet, but continue to do whatever you want.
You could have seriously injured your gecko if you haven't already.
Please...stop playing doctor.
Terrible advice. Absolutely terrible. The respiratory system of a leopard gecko is really poorly equipped to deal with water. A drop into the nose, settling in the lung; infection prone environment. Do not splash water in the face of a leopard gecko. Ever.
'course the original poster shouldn't be trying any of these home remedies since he does not have a firm diagnosis from a vet about what the problem actually is. His animal has an eye issue, it may be contaminates, it may be a stuck shed, it may be an infection, an injury or even a nutritional deficiency. The appropriate treatments are highly dependent on knowing for certain what the problem actually is and some of the steps which would be helpful for one condition could be harmful for another.
Splashing him in the face with water is helpful for none of them though.
