is it okay to use sand if u dont feed live crickets? Cuz i feed the dead ones in the can from ZooMed in a dish. I thought they only accidentally eat sand while trying to get a cricket

No its still not a good idea to use sand because leos will touch the ground with there tongue and pick sand up that way. Also I would not reccomend that canned crap. I experimented with it in the past and its a pain because once the cans or opened, they only last a couple days in the fridge before going bad. They are not that good for the gecko either, your much better off with live food such as mealies or cricks.

I would also have to say, I recommend live food, as gecko seems to enjoy it. And chasing live prey is really the only environmental enrichment our leopard geckos get. However I would never recommend sand, some leopard geckos will try to eat the sand to try to get vitamins (this is normally related to calcium sand). It really isn’t worth the risk of the cage looking nice; if it kills your gecko is it? Also to offer them the nutritious they need, that some try to get from the sand, you can give them a bowl, or easily digested minerals, and vitamins. I would recommend reptile carpet, or tile.
