Hello everyone!
Got a new gecko yesterday. It's a male Bell Albino from 2010. He's a big guy with 73g and a really nice character. :)
Problem: His skin is looking strange at some areas. For me it looks like old scars with a new skin appearance. At the larger areas you can see that the skin is lower then the normal - I hope you can see it on the pictures. It's difficult to explain in English. ;) These areas are all on his body - i think between 4-5, different sizes, color like his carrottail.
Have you ever seen skin like this on a leopardgecko? Are these scars or something else?
Thanks,
Marlena

I think those may be scars. One of my adult females has a scar from when she fell when she was a hatchling, my roommate got frustrated trying to get her from out of a hiding spot under our space heater. She quick flicked at her with a pencil and she got a cut on her back. My roommate gave her to me after she moved with her bf to Japan. She turned out fine but yes the scales there are smaller bumps and it is a slightly different color. I have photos of her but I do not have any close ups of the scar as it's hard to see.

They look more like "paradox spots" to me. Search for that on this forum. Those are harmless; like birth marks. Yours has nice orange ones. They also exist in brown or yellow or... different colors in different places. Some people even want to breed for them! Scars look more whitish (lack of pigment) while paradox spots have color.

Even if it were scars, that's nothing to worry about if your leo lives in a separate cage and doesn't get bullied by another one. Many geckos have scars from breeding. If you want to avoid scars, don't keep geckos together (and if you breed, just put them together for a short time and then separate them again).

Pretty gecko!

Thanks for your comments,
I'm still not shure what it is. I know paradox spots on other Leopards, but these spots have no difference in the strukture of the skin. I also searched the internet if I could find things like that, but I couldn't find informations or pictures of such a difference in the skin.
If these are scars, I don't have problems with them - only thing is that the seller didn't tell me when I bought him.
I have several Leopardgeckos and never had one with this and I think I won't keep him alone. Only after breeding season. Just never had a gecko that was bitten or injured by another one.
And like all of my Leopards.. i fell in love with him. He's called "Linguini" :)

appears to be scar tissue to me. I've not seen this in leopard geckos, but I've seen it in other similarly textured gecko species. The scalation is often reduced in size, and there does look to be some indentation present at the site of the assumed injury location; this is particularly evident in the first photo where you can easily see the difference in how the uninjured surrounding skin contours differently than that of the old injury site. The 4th photo also greatly shows the difference in scalation size between that of uninjured vs injured tissue.

EDIT: disregard the first part of my 2nd sentence. I actually have a gecko in my collection that I was given who had an old bite wound inury on her back. I'll try to get nice detailed photos of it later today.
