I have noticed that Milkshake my Leopard gecko has had a red tail when I have been taking her out. The red color kind of goes away after five minutes of being out of her tank. Today I took her out and she was molting on her tail and I could see scrapes on her tail. I'm not sure if it is scrapes but can anyone tell me whats wrong if her? Am I doing something wrong? Will she be ok? She has also been molting a lot Lately, is this related to her tail in any way? Through her "molt fetish" she hasn't had a red tail like this. She is showing great alacrity, she is eating just find and is acting normal. So could anyone tell me whats wrong? Any input would be appreciated, thanks. P.S I hope the pics help!

Judging by the little bits of stuck shed on her toes I'd say that she's biting her tail hard to get the shed off and making it bleed. Does she have a humid hide? You mentioned that she's shedding more often lately. How often is that?

I have a humid hide for her and I mist it with warm water and tropical mist but she doesn't go in it. Should I give her a shed ease bath every night? She has this red color on her toes and last night she had blood on her toes! Will she be ok? She's been molting once every two weeks and she is starting to molt again and her last molt was last week.

sounds like a bad shed. i make my leos go in thier moist hides if they're ready to shed, lol...i just kinda coax them in there...more like pick em up and put them in the hide and say "stay! good lizard!"

but anywho. a warm soak couldnt hurt. and maybe some antibacterial stuff. clean her tank and maybe keep her on paper towels for a little while. to me, this helps monitor if she's still bleeding, plus it will be a little cleaner for while she's healing. clean up poopies whenever you see them.

Double check your tank temps too. If she's shedding more often than normal it can be a sign the the temps are off. As soon as you see her start to go into shed start giving her soaks a couple of times a day.
