I have a 260 gallon mesh cage I have now had four geckos die in it. I think due to low humidity I dont think I will be using it again unless I get a humidify for the room. I am just wondering if anyone has had this problem before and if/what they were able to do to fix it?
Thank you

Hmm.. well leopard geckos are terrestrial, so they need cages with more floor space instead of height. They aren't the best of climbers, and with a cage that high, they could have climbed up too high and perhaps fallen to their death? Not sure. How were you heating the tank, with UTHs or overhead heat lamps?

We live in Arizona too, and the low humidity is actually a plus since geckos don't really like very high humidity everywhere (can cause breathing problems), just a humid hide that they can lay in if they want to and to help them shed.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your four leos

Wow, that's sad. Sorry you lost all those guys. Did they all die at the same time? Then I'd wonder about some type of poisoning or dehydration. Then again if they are not getting any belly heat, they cannot properly digest their food. The possibility of climbing & falling to their death is a very real one.

NOT LEOPARD geckos I never made that clear sorry. I had a crested in their. I know those tanks are for chameleons, however they also work for cresteds any any other arboreal lizard. Keeping in mind this is fully planted from top to bottom. And on the first note its 29x29x72 thats two and half feet square which is more than enough for a few leopards

If you look at my sig I keep a few geckos my 3 leopards are housed in two 20 longs I have 2 4-5 month old cresteds in a 29 tall with a topper 1 baby crested my its self in the mind exo-terra and three tokays in a large exo-terra which will be house individually very soon due to size. My concern is that the dry air here is hard for me to keep humidity up in my rep room maybe thats to bad for a crested living in a screen tank!

It would still be too high of a cage nonetheless.

Sorry I do not know much of anything about cresties, perhaps try asking your question in the Crested Gecko section.

No less than the glass would be, but I am not going to be using it anytime soon. I might lay it down and put some desert lizards in it. They would do well
