Second Egg Not Coming Out

Hi,

my leopard gecko laid an egg 4 days ago, I can tell that the right side of her belly is still big. Why is she not laying the second egg ?

I'm getting very worried about this since she normally lays 2 eggs at once.

Three possible reasons:
--the second egg is coming soon (I think I've had a couple of long intervals between eggs in the same clutch)
--there is no second egg and what you're seeing is fat
--the gecko is egg bound and can't pass the second egg.

I put that last one last because it's the least likely. If she starts looking distressed, or you want to take preventive measures, you could take her to the vet.

Thanks for the fast response Aliza.
She was not eating, but after she laid the first egg. She started eating again.
Right now she looks really relaxed, no signs of stress.

Hopefully there's a second egg on its way, since the first one had 2 massive dents in.
I did incubate it right away, put about 80% of the egg (20% showing) in moist vermiculite at 82F since I read that could make the egg dent pop up again.
I do see some improvement in the dent, It looks like it's getting smaller.

Is this a good sign ?

The gecko may also reabsorb the egg at some point.

wow, reabsorb the egg ? After how many days do I know that there's no egg coming anymore.
