Hi all! I was wondering if I could get your opinions on a question I have. Could I sell some of my leopard geckos LOCALLY if they are under fifteen grams, but more then ten? I will not be shipping them at all, and will be giving a 26 page care sheet that I typed (its just about housing, feeding, the basics, etc.) to every person who wants one. They will only go to their new homes after I have met the prospective owners, and they have a setup that I approve of (or they are on this forum and I trust them ;) ). I am a very small scale breeder right now, so I can afford to be picky :) But does the fifteen gram rule apply to geckos I am not shipping? And I will only be selling the babies that are more than ten grams and have great feeding reponses. Any opinions are appreciated! I already have an offer on a twelve gram baby from a very devoted person, and I could really use the money to buy some more mealworms right now :) Thank you guys!

I don't see any prob with it as long as there not getting shipped. Now shipping them under 15 grams no way. I would not suggest it at all. Seeing how there local sales tho means less stress so it should be fine as long as your customer understands its a baby and needs tender care right now. I would also limit handling for at least the first few days of being in there new habitat. Just to take away unnecessary stress. I'm confident your not just going to sell a hatching to a newbie that knows nothing about geckos. Good luck to you.

It sounds fine to me too, especially if the gecko is "well started" i.e. eating well and gaining steadily.

Thank you very much for the replies guys! They will definately not be going to people that i don't trust. I am just not confident enough to start shipping geckos yet, and this year was really more of a test run to make sure that I am capable of actually hatching the babies :) after I get some geckos from some high end breeders that I've been eyeing, and I successfully breed those, I will definately look into shipping so that people outside of my city can have acsess to them :) Thanks all! I'm gonna go work on making an ad in the classifieds now ;)
