Separate Feeding Tank?

Hey there, recently 40 or so crickets I had bought managed to chew through their bag and get all over the place. I'm tired of buying them anyways, since I have to run to the store about twice a week, so I was thinking about breeding crickets. I was going to make a separate tank, fill the bottom with some coco-coir (compressed coconut fiber), and dump the crickets and maybe a few mealworms in there to hopefully reproduce. Then whenever my gecko gets hungry, I was gonna put him in that tank, let him hunt until he's full, then put him back in his home. What do you guys think?

Also, can coco coir impact the little guy's stomach like calcium sand?

I am new to Leopard Geckos myself, so I am not an expert, but putting your Leo in a tank filled with Crickets and mealworks just sounds like a bad idea to me.

anything loose can cause impactation. Also putting your leopard gecko in a tank full of insects and worms may stress them out. Get a large cricket keeper and you can get cricket food cubes at the pet store and keep a piece of carrot or potatoe for water. Then just put enough crickets in their tank that they will eat.

In addition to being freaked out by a lot of crickets, many geckos won't eat in an unfamilliar place, though some people have been able to acclimate their geckos to eating in a separate tank.
