Setup Question

Hi,
I am brand new to the forums, and already posting questions all over the site. ha ha. Well, I have kept some lizard in the past, but never a gecko.
Therefore, I already have a few tanks. I had a ten gallon, but gave it away. Now I have two, what i believe to be, like a 29 gallon or something odd like that. Now, will this be to large for a single gecko? adult? juvenile?
Thanks in advance for any help!

A 10 gallon is fine for one adult or a couple babies. Your tank should be okay, just make sure to have enough cover and hides. The bigger the cage makes it harder to heat and harder for the gecko to catch its food. I would defently reccomend feeding mealies out of a dish, its easier generally but with a bigger cage it will be best for making sure your leo gets its food :).

I don't exactly agree with what Jason just said about heating. A 29 gallon tall has the same floor space as a 20 gallon long. That is perfectly fine for an adult (or a couple if you are trying to breed). It may be a little too big for a really small leo. I switched mine to a 20 long at about 5 months. Yes, larger tanks are harder to heat.... but 20 long and 29 tall heat better than 10 gal in my opinion. 10 gals do not have enough space away from the hot side to have a good heat gradient. I seem to have a very active leo that loves to hunt, so the larger cage didnt bother her at all. The only problem I had was crickets going into her hides and all that, but I just take those out before I put crickets in. Hope that helps. Good Luck!

Ok, thanks guys. So I plan on using mealworms as a staple (permitting the lizard i get will eat the), So everything should be fine.
But since you say that the 29 gal Tall and 20 gal long have equal floor space, should i just buy the UTH made for 10-20 gal tanks? or go with a bigger size?
