Several Issues

Okay so I have several issues, my room is not getting the heat from the house...and I can't move him anywhere else, that isn't near a window in another room, so i could move him to a warmer room but it'd be just as cold because he only has spots by windows.

It's reading 68-70 during the day and at night I belive it dropping down to mid 60s and this is too cold.

I know any heat over 85 is bad, 85 is still pushing it, 80 or below is better, so how do I heat him up? I have a heat lamp but I have no stand, and since he is in a 10 gallon turned on it's width side, I can't put the heat lamp right on the glass, even if I could temps would well exceed 90

So how do I solve this?

Now for humidty I can't get the stupid humity to go above moderate, it's like 50 or 60 mainly 50 and I am misting like a minimum of 2 times a day, sometimes more.

I have a running fountain in there

and the substrate is half papertowel, half reptile carpet and then over that is moss but it's still not getting humid, i bet it's because it's too cold right?

Now on to my final problem, his eating habits

I feed a variety of foods to him, like applesauce, peaches, CGD
I take a spoonful of applesauce, warm it up a bit and let him eat it as much as he wants i then will either make up a spoonful of CGD or grab some other fruit I have avaliabe and let him eat that as much as he wants too

I then make CGD food and put it in a dish and put in the aquairum with him, he'll nibble on it occasionally.

But before I got him all he was fed was dusted crickets, well now I since i've given him the CGD and fruit I can't get him to even look at any bug I send his way!!! cricket, dusted or not, mealworm, nothing! He turns his nose up at it and won't eat it

So how's he to get his calcium and I can see his backbone ever so slightly
and his tail seems slightly kinked when he has it straight out (it didn't use to have a small kink like this)
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!!!!??!!

Also he is much darker than when I bought him, (that seems to be a pattern with my geckos, they are darker when I bring them home)

Is something bothering them?

You can use a low wattage bulb or get a heat pad controlled with a thermostat.

if you are misting 2 times a day then that is fine. They dont need a constant high humidity, their cage needs to dry out or you will get mold.

For the feeding, he is probably not eating crickets or the cgd much because he is getting apple sauce and peaches. He's getting filled up on desert and not eating his real meal. Just like if you gave a kid the choice of a bowl of ice cream or broccoli, they are going to take ice cream.

The kink sounds very much like it is from his diet also, apple sauce isnt a very good choice for them and 99% of the time an unhealthy gecko is from a poor diet. It usually starts with a kinked tail and can get much. Drop the apple sauce and peaches, just cgd with extra calcium added and it should straighten up.

Thanks so much, i only went with the applesauce because he wasn't hardle eating so I figured it's better he eat something, than nothing at all but I guess if he'll just have to realize he ain't getting anything else except crickets and CGD,lol XD

Thanks so much for the help :)

Hey I know I have said this alot but if your gecko does not eat the T-rex or Rapashy foods very well try Clarks gecko diet, mine love it. They now made a complete diet that seems to be very good and you don't have to feed you gecko any crickets. You can order Clarks at www.pmpreptiles.com . Also, you should still add calcium to Clarks diet.

Why should you add extra calcium to the CGD diets? I dust my insects just as an added bonus, but I was under the impression that the CGD was formulated as a balanced, stand-alone diet.

His geckos tail is starting to kink, meaning low calcium. It needs more than normal to fix it.
