Hello,

I have several juvenil albino Leos with about 30gr- and I thought they should be females. I don`t know the incubation temperature. They show clear dimples but what is the visual difference to the pores?

Best, Krishi

The pores are actually opened and they will secrete a waxy substance once the gecko is older and sexually mature(I think). The dimples are just that, dimples and when you look at them under a magnifying glass, the just look like dimples, not an actual pore. HTH!

That`s right, but especially with hot incubated females I personally find it also very difficult to sex younger animals. I often wonder at what young age of the geckos many breeders are able to sex them.
Even if I use a magnifying glass, I do also have a lot of difficulties. My eyes aren`t the best although,.... :)

Do a Google search for "Leopard Gecko Sexing". Check out a few of the links and you will find pics showing the difference.

Here's a couple of additional pics of geckos in the 30-40g range. Sometimes females can look a little bulgy and have slightly noticeable pores but by 30g males will be really noticeable.
