Sexing my gargoyle

Ok, I have one gargoyle gecko now, and I am thinking about getting one or two more. But, before I get any more, I need to know if the one I have is a male, because I don't want to get two males.

Anyway, I know how to sex them, and I'm pretty sure the one I have is a female, but I'm not really sure of myself yet. I was just wondering an approximate age/size that the sex would become obvious.

i've seen them sexed as small as 10 g. a lot of people wait until 20-25 grams to be sure. i personally keep them singled until i decide to put them into a breeding group. im not sure if im allowed to post links to other forums... ill pm you a decent link i used to use.

Oh sexing gargoyles! The smallest I've ever identified a male was one at 7.4g. On the flipside, some animals I hatched out in 2006 were all over 30 grams when I sold them and close to 14 months. I only had a 10x loupe then and sold two "Female" gargoyles that were indeed males...they dropped bulges and pores became very visible a few months later. You also find females that have what I call "pulges" (swollen base that looks like hemipenes might be there, but are not) and a great set of pseudopores. Best thing you could get is a nice lighted 30x loupe. Makes sexing them, much more accurate...

Sorry, not to hijack your thread, Trunks...

haroldo,
Here's my garg.
S/he's 6 grams (probably more, I have to weigh her tonight).
I decided to loupe her while I had her out for her cage cleaning the other night.
I know she's VERY tiny still, but this is what I got. She was completely unfired (which, unfired, she appears "ghost").

Think these are pseudo pores?

Rebecca-

Looks like that animal definitely has a few rows of "indented/dented" ventral pores, but can't get a good look of those femoral (thigh) "pores". My guess would be male, but can't be sure whether they are actually pitted or not in such a dark picture. (I "blast" the ventral area with light when I'm trying to sex young animals.)

I need to start keeping more precise records of incubation temperature with R. auriculatus eggs to see if there's a coloration with the presence of pseudopores in known females. Specifically, is there a "red zone" between the poles of temperature sex determination where females begin to get "male physical characteristics" like pulges. Time will tell...

Thanks for the help with this so far guys. I'm still pretty sure it's a female. She has a bit of a pulge, but it's not really divided like a male's would be.

I'm still trying to backtrack to give myself a rough guess of how old she is. I've had her since Christmas, and I she was at the pet store for at least two months, so I'm thinking somewhere around nine months at least?

Pangea Reptiles apparently went and changed their website's layout, and I just saw that they have some loupes for sale for $10 for sexing Cresteds and Gargoyles.
