Don't Say It's Impossible

We had a baby hatch late last night with it's umbilical cord still attatched. Early this morning, it looked as if it was glossed over like it was going to shed. I looked in later today and it had shed, it even left some shed inside the tub so I know it shed. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

This just happened to me with one of my raptors. Still had a belly button and everything. Weird.

Matt and Mallorie,

I have had many geckos shed within 48 hours, but don't remember one shedding the first day. Possibly humidity levels could be a factor, but that is just a unfounded comment at best.

Some Hatchlings do commonly shed 24 hours after hatching. As for it not feeding I've also had both ones that will eat practically from the egg and those that take about a week or so before feeding. It's all in how fast the gecko acclimates and can digest the remaining yolk. It's normal as long as they are not loosing any weight.
