Shed problems

Guys one of the Leo`s that i rescued has a shed problem wondering is there any more secrets i can do?

I didnt realize when i got him that he had a stuck shed on his mouth and nose and eyelid. The layers of Shed were so hard to see i had to use a magnifying glass to see it, it was almost like the shed was transparent (like plastic) then i peeled off 3 layers of sheds

The eyelid was super hard to get off, i didnt wanna hurt his eye.

Any other suggestions other then Moist hide and Wet Q-tips?

I had a similiar situation one time and I was told to fill a container a little higher than belly level with 92 water. Then place the leo in the container for 5 min or so. It worked for me and all the shed was removed after two soakings and Qtips. I waited 2 hours in between soakings. Good luck with your rescue.

Do you have an incubator? If so set up a moist deli-cup (lid, airholes, moist paper towels, mist container heavily) for this guy and leave him in the incubator overnight. In the AM you should be able to get a good deal of the shed off. Work on them only five or so minutes at a time, no more than three times daily. To work on them longer is too stressful.

After this is solved then you need to solve the condition that caused this.

Well i got the sheds off him what condition caused this? No moist hide before i got him. He is the one with most digits gone.

Be sure to set up a moist hide for him. The other cause for shed problems is illness. If you still have problems after taking care of the hidebox needs then a fecal and vet exam is in order.

He has a moist hide, but his shed problems still persist. He looks good and eats good, tail is nice and fat etc etc. He has no shed problems anywhere else, but his face has the shed problem.

Seems like sheds have a real rough time coming off his eye and nose area.
