I just noticed tonight my gecko has some shed stuck to his head and he is trying to rub on his log to get it off. Should I help him, or let my gecko get the shed off by himself? I did mist the cage and his shed box and I misted him, so hopefully that helps. Anything else I can do for the little guy? I need help. thanks.

My friend has a gecko. When she sheds, my friend just pulls of all the skin from the gecko. The gecko doesn't need to do anything but stay still. Is this way okay?

I think it is beneficial for them to eat it themselves to get the vitimins and such that is in their skin. Also, it is good excercise for them to shed and get it off themselves. It is tempting to help them out sometimes but I wouldn't do it everytime.

I tried to help but the one Gecko I have really does not like being touched and I did take a q tip as some shed seems to be stuck to his ear and he bit the q-tip and my hand but I had gloves on. Kind of looks red on his head, a little bit.

The other gecko I have ninja does not bite but hashey does. I did try tweezers and Hashey moved and it makes it hard to get what little shed he has off. I did notice the rest of the shed last night he had came off by itself but a piece of shed is still stuck to his ear.

I think its best not to interfer unless you absolutly have to.
Let nature take its course :)
Just make sure you have plenty of humidity in there.

I would leave the shed on gently cut it back if it is a big piece attached it happened to my gecko. By next shed make sure the humidity is up in the tank and even mist the geckos head a few times right before the next shed. It will come off naturally and clean. I wouldnt recommend pulling it off because the dead skin could still be attached to living tissue.
