Shedding Skin Stuck

Dora sheds every two weeks or so. She refuses to use a moist hut, instead trucking through her water then rubbing herself all over her repticarpet and hut. If need be I'll wet my finger and dampen parts that seem to be resistant to come off. Usually her head is last.

Well my other half was home and decided to help her, he's never even seen her shed before. He helped pull of the loose skin on her head but now there is a patch at her nose that wont come off. I've tried making it damp, offering up the moist hut again. It doesn't cover her nose holes and it doesn't prevent her from opening her mouth. She's been eating fine.

Should I just leave it? Will it effect the skin underneath the patch? Is there a way that I should take it off? Thanks!

If the corner comes up, you can pull it off. Otherwise, give it some time to dry up a bit and it may flake off (or you can help it).

I use a shed-aid you can get it at Petsmart you spray an even dose on them and then rub it in, it helps the skin stay moist to get it off... also the breeder I got my girls from said fill the sink up with a little water and use a qtip lightly to rub it off. Don't pull to hard because the skin underneath might not be ready to see the light of day.

If shed skin stays on for a long period of time and tightens up it can cause an infection, don't worry now it is probably fine. Try that SHED-AID it is a miracle for my babes!

I had a male that did the same thing. He had a moist hide (Tupperware with moist paper towel). He did use his moist hide, but always had shedding problems. I set up a lay box (like what I use for my gravid females). I used moist coco fiber (Eco Earth) in a 11" x 7" X 3.5 " container, with a hole on top. Problem solved. :)

Any updates on how your little guy got his shed off? Was he able to get the whole thing off himself?
