So Eros is coming into his first shed with us, prob. gonna happen in the next day or 2, now I know when my son's python is coming into shed she really doesn't want to be bothered much, are leo's the same way? Tonight when I fed him he didn't want to be held or even looked at really, he'd eat and hide, eat and hide... is this unusual? He's still pretty new here, going on like well 14 days to be exact (wow it's only been 2 weeks? seems a LOT longer :) ) so I know he's still settelingin but until this last week I would make it a point to hold him a bit after each feeding and he was cool, Nope... not his last 2 feedings (weds. and todays), wanted NOTHING to do with lovins :(

Any one else have a leo who is kinda crotchity when shedding?

Hey my female bit my male last night; and she was in shed this morning. I guess that's why she was so agitated...

My leos tend to not eat when getting ready to shed and kinda sulk if thats possible hehe. They just mope around like they cant be bothered and sit in the moist hide a lot. Yoshi is kinda grumpy most of the time so shedding time is no different for him :main_laugh: Hes just a cranky little man :main_rolleyes:

Eros won't touch his moist hide that I've seen. He goes in then comes right back out. He was tub raised so I don't think he likes the feel of the sphagnum moss so I think I'm gonna have to think of something else, but he did just have his first shed, and it all came off perfectly so...

Thats good it all came off :) 2 of mine always have problems getting it off their head. On the tip of their nose or around the eyes is worst. Theyre stubborn as hell though and will totally ignore the rest of their body until its off so a lot of the time ill help them get it off so they can do the rest themselves. Awkward little madams :)

No doubt. I'm very thankful that Eros didn't have any issues but I made sure to keep his moss well soaked even tho he doesn't use it that I know of, and the rocks got misted daily so I was hoping it would all work out. I know the feeling with difficult shedders tho, my son's ball python is having a couple difficulties his last couple of sheds.

Eros just shed yesterday too and I fed him tonight (I think maybe overfed) and when I took him out he wasn't the happiest camper in the tent. Lots of chirps, angry tail swishing, and scurrying but he eventually settled in and hung out for about 40 minutes before I could see he reached his "I've had enough" point, I just refuse to put him away when he's acting like a brat because I don't want him to thik "Hey if I act like a jerk I get to go home".

haha :D yeah I still handle banana when she's in a mood.. haha she's not getting with it that easily :D ..

I need help with something completely off subject.. I don't know if you've seen my post on 'picky eater..' .. but banana won't eat anything but brown crickets. She's always been fed the same food, with no variety and she's refusing to eat new things. I want to start her on a varied feeding routine.. brown crickets and superworms. but she's being a fussy madam and won't eat mealies or superworms. :S do you have any advice.

I saw that thread... I'll reply over there m'kay :)

Ok it was a different picky eater thread...

I would just offer the different things regardless of her feelings. Maybe start with something more tempting like a silk, phoneix or wax worm just to get her started on something non-cricket. Wait a few days to feed her till she's really good and hungry then offer the different food. Have a variety available to you, like supers and the others I mentioned and just try and see if anything catches her eye. Make sure they're active so that she goes into "hunt mode". I'm the tough love type, I wouldn't offer her a cricket until it's been maybe a week and she absolutely refuses everything else. Be careful tho and when you try the different feeders don't give her like an entire meal of waxies or silkies, mix it up. We don't want to turn her into a junk food addict :)

Okay.. I will try that for the rest of the week, starting tomorrow. Today I give her four crickets, and then I left some superworms in her dish. Hopefully she eats them today. If not, I'm not going to feed her anything except superworms for a week and hopefully she'll give in and eat them.

Just imagine a tight, itchy sweatshirt covering your ENTIRE body. You can only rip it off and in some spots it might not want to come up right away- so you're stuck with it like that for a day or two. Oh, did I mention it's also annoyingly crinkly sounding?

That itself would make me one of the grouchiest persons alive- I wouldn't want to do anything until it was off!
